MathCounts
Comprising 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, Meadowbrook’s MathCounts team meets two to three times a week as an elective. Each December the school holds a MathCounts assembly to demonstrate the students’ prowess; highest scorers are then invited to compete in the MathCounts regional competition. The students work their way through regional, state and ultimately national competition.
The popularity and success of our MathCounts team speaks to the quantitative problem-solving skills that are embedded in the Meadowbrook culture. Many of our students thrive on this opportunity to show what they know in a competitive forum. Whether as individuals or as a team, our middle schoolers take on complex mathematics problems in pattern recognition, number theory, geometry and more.
Intermediate Math League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM)
IMLEM is a Massachusetts-based math league in which up to 20 students per school can participate, with five IMLEM meets scheduled each year. Meadowbrook typically participates in the top division and consistently ranks high in the region.
