The Meadowbrook School offers our students challenging academics within an intentionally-small and nurturing environment. For nearly a century, we have educated children with the goal of preparing them for a diverse, global and complex world while giving them a strong foundation in the arts, athletics and community service.
Meadowbrook starts at the Lower School level with Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. Our students begin a path to discovery in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language and technology. At the same time we focus on the whole child supporting and developing children’s social skills and emotional growth, key steps in the journey toward becoming global citizens.
In Grades 3 through 5, our curriculum becomes more intensive. There is an increasing emphasis on inferential thinking; writing, reading comprehension and discussion techniques are refined. We continue to cultivate children’s organizational and social skills and challenge their intellects. Students are allowed more independence as they transition from concrete to abstract thinkers, and by 5th grade they are given more choice in arts and athletics.
Our Middle School (Grades 6-8) students have set an academic standard of excellence. Small classes allow for a stimulating exchange of ideas among committed students and teachers. Whether exploring Shakespeare on the stage, discovering algebra in the classroom, or calculating how to capture solar energy from the sun to power a vehicle, our students embrace both the independent and collaborative experiences of learning. Our middle schoolers emerge as smart, confident and responsible leaders.
