The information within this section of the web site outlines the procedures for applications and interviews. We look forward to getting to know you and your family and encourage you to email or call us any time with questions!
?While Meadowbrook does not have specific cut-off ages, in general students entering Junior Kindergarten should be 4.5 by September and those entering Senior Kindergarten 5.5.
1. Applicants are scheduled for an individual 30 minute session with a professional evaluator which helps in the assessment of the developmental skills of each candidate. These individual sessions begin in October and run through January.
2. Applicants are invited to a Group Screening with no more than 8-10 others in their age group in January and February. These Group Screenings are conducted by our faculty members and provides the candidates with an opportunity to interact with peers, listen to a story, and have some individual time with our faculty. This visit lasts about an hour. Refreshments are available for parents during this time, and representatives from our Parents' Council are present to answer any questions parents may have.
3. Teacher recommendations and school reports are also required and due by January 15.
Candidates for these grades are evaluated in a classroom setting with a group of 10-12 other applicants by a group of our teachers. During this time your child will be evaluated in reading, mathematics, and writing. Teacher recommendations and school reports are also required and due by January 15.
Candidates for these grades visit Meadowbrook with a parent/guardian for an initial tour and interview in the fall or early winter. All applicants must submit scores for the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) or the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). In addition, teacher recommendations and school reports are required and due by February 1. Families should set up testing so that scores are available to us by mid-January.
?Members of the Admission Committee evaluate all components of a student's record thoroughly and thoughtfully. We strive at all times to keep the best interests of the students in mind and to ensure that Meadowbrook is the best match. If you wish to review the results of testing or to discuss decisions, please be in touch with us after March 10; we value an open, transparent policy with all our families.
