Drama
Class plays are a highlight of the year for the whole community, performed for the school on several Friday mornings each School year. The Senior Kindergarten presents an entertaining, costumed recital of their favorite nursery rhymes and similar songs. First Grade presents "Children of the World," with each child dressing in the traditional garb of a child from a country they've studied. Performances include songs and dances from a variety of cultures around the world. Second grade and third grades present a themed production based on the countries and cultures they are studying in the given year, as Meadowbrook seeks to share awareness of the global community to which we belong. The ever-popular mask assembly has fourth graders on stage, donning full costumes of their favorite fictional book characters, complete with paper-mache masks constructed in art class. Fifth grade produces their own versions of Greek myths, written and directed by the team of fifth grade teachers, as well as an end of the year medieval assembly complete with a full scale, all-community dance and sing-along. Drama productions throughout the year are great ways for us all to learn from each other, and celebrate the collaborative efforts of classroom teachers, art and music specialists, and the individual classes who put on these show-stopping performances.
