Jazz Band
In Jazz Ensemble, students learn how to improvise on their instrument more effectively. By starting with only a few notes in each scale and slowly adding more of the scale from which to choose, they gain confidence in this challenging art form. Jazz ensemble students gain an understanding of concepts such as musical form, chords, scales, melodies, jazz language, soloing, rhythm section playing, ensemble balance and sight-reading. Additionally, students are introduced to literature that represents the best and most historically important music from the history of jazz.
