Registration Questions and Answers from the Director, Daniel Hanlon Q. When may I register my children? Registration is open now. Q. May I register online?
Not yet, though you may download camper registration forms from our website: Q. What is the age of campers? 4½ to 12½ by June 1st. Pre-K’s who are older than 5½ as of June 1st must be placed in a K group. Q. How are the campers grouped? Campers are placed in groups based on their gender and their current grade. Depending upon enrollment, campers may be placed in a mixed grade grouping, for example, a K/1 group. Pre-K groups may be mixed gender. Fifth/sixth grade groups are coed during their afternoon choice periods. Other groups are single gender. Q. Do the groups have both female and male counselors? Our youngest boys' groups, pre-K through first grade, will always have both female and male counselors. We believe the female counselors provide a certain comfort level to the young boys while the male counselors provide a positive role model. Older boys' groups may or may not have both male and female counselors. Girls' groups will only have female group counselors. Coed groups will have both female and male counselors. Q. Is there a sibling discount? The day camp offers a 10% family discount when three or more children enroll for camp. Q. May I split Session I weeks?
No. Session I is sold as a unit and may not be split. Q. May I trade a Session I week for a Session II week? No. That would be splitting Session I. Q. Do you keep returning campers together? Not necessarily. Campers are placed in groups based primarily on their friendship requests for the upcoming camp season. Q. May my child request to be with a friend? There is a place on the registration form to write in a friend’s name. We try to honor these requests, but no guarantees are made. Q. What if my child has special needs? So that we may provide a positive camp experience to all children, we ask that you consult with the Director about your child’s needs and the appropriateness of the camp’s program for your child. As in school, some children with special needs may need support to have a successful summer experience. Q. What is the camper/counselor ratio? Our ratios are in compliance with the American Camp Association standards and Mass Department of Health regulations and vary with age of the child. These ratios are: 5 to 1 for 4 - 6 year olds; 8 to 1 for 7 & 8 year olds; and 10 to 1 for 9 - 12 ½ year olds. Q. Do you serve lunch? This summer, parents will have the option to purchase lunch on a weekly basis or send in a picnic lunch for their child. Details will be provided in the spring. Q. Is the deposit refundable? No, the deposit in nonrefundable unless there is no space for your child. Q. When is the balance of the tuition due? April 1st. Families will be billed at the end of February for their balance. Q. Do you accept credit cards? You may pay the deposit via the Pay Pal link on our website, but your tuition balance must be paid via check. If needed, we can work out a payment plan with you. Q. Will you pro-rate the tuition or trade days if my child is not out of school for the first day of camp? Unfortunately, Meadowbrook cannot pro-rate tuition, offer refunds for missed days of camp, or trade a week from one session to another. Q. What is Meadowbrook’s tuition refund policy? If a camper drops or withdraws from a session (including Early Registration Extension weeks), the deposit for that session will be forfeited. If the change is made after May 1, the tuition payment will also be forfeited unless the camp is able to fill your child’s position in his/her group. Q. Is Meadowbrook a peanut free camp? No. Meadowbrook is a peanut aware camp. This means that we ask parents to abstain from sending in any food containing peanuts to camp. This includes (but is not limited to) peanut butter sandwiches or crackers, peanut butter cookies, trail mixes, candy containing peanut butter, and peanut snacks. However, we cannot guarantee that this happens 100% of the time. Q. When do I sign up for the bus or extended day? A sign-up form will be mailed out in the spring. We anticipate that the stops will be similar to last summer’s, though routes may change if we are able to make them more effective. Preliminary routes and pick-up/drop-off times are currently posted on the website. Q. When do I sign-up for AfterCamp or the Tennis Clinics? In the spring. Parents will be billed for their AfterCamp usage at the end of each session. Payment for tennis clinics should be submitted with the sign-up form. Q. If I have a question, whom may I speak to? The office staff is generally available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Friday, and will be able to answer most of your questions. If you wish to speak to me, please leave a message and I will return your call.
