Learning Lab

The Learning Lab is available for students who need academic support. Skills are evaluated, and, when necessary, an individualized remedial program is planned. Tutoring is provided by trained Reading Specialists at an additional cost. (See Tutoring)

Learning Lab Services

Meadowbrook's Learning Lab is able to:

  • Provide diagnosis and remediation of reading and related language issues
  • Use classroom curriculum materials to teach needed skills and strategies
  • Provide support in organizational skills, time management, and study skills and strategies
  • Provide writing skills support
  • Provide academic support in all areas (emphasis is on reading/language)
  • Administer and/or interpret WISC-IV and WPPSI-3 testing
  • Provide diagnostic testing for learning style differences
  • Screen for auditory, attention, and/or neurological issues
  • Refer students for comprehensive evaluations if needed
  • Advocate for classroom modifications
  • Screen admission candidates
  • Provide faculty in-service workshops regarding learning differences
  • Act as an in-school resource for faculty and parents in areas of learning disabilities, learning styles, current educational research, and reading materials

Learning Lab cannot:

  • Provide speech/articulation therapy*
  • Perform extensive language evaluations*
  • Perform articulation and language screenings*
  • Work exclusively on developing basic language skills that are below the child's grade level*
  • Provide occupational* or physical therapy
  • Provide support for social/pragmatic skills*
  • Provide psychotherapy
