The arts at Meadowbrook is a rich mosaic of programs, people and performances. It completes our whole-child approach to education, building children’s imaginations, skills and self-esteem. Music, drama and visual arts are incorporated into each classroom’s curriculum to enrich our children’s studies and ensure that they see the world through a broad lens. Meadowbrook students discover and develop their own artistic passion in the art rooms… in the ceramics studio… on the stage… in the film lab… and everywhere that art happens.
What looks like a simple self-portrait can be a whole world of learning to a child. Art appreciation, social studies and geometry might all play a role in shaping that self-portrait. Similarly, an acting role in a play can help refine a student’s public speaking skills and expose them to historical dress.
What do artistic pursuits bring to a student’s education? First and foremost, self-knowledge. Students get to know themselves better by working to perfect a collage or produce a video. They understand what they’re innately good at and also what they need to work on. And children learn what brings them joy – because the arts should be fun.
