Meadowbrook’s After School program provides a warm, nurturing environment for our students after the formal school day ends. Available from 12:30 pm for our youngest children until 5:45 pm for all students, After School was established more than 15 years ago and is designed with the needs of our families in mind.
Our Junior/Senior Kindergarteners spend their afternoons choosing from blocks, arts & crafts, games, toys and Legos. There is the “project of the day” – seasonal projects like fall wreaths, sunflower seeds in painted pots, styrofoam animals and home-made Valentines. Older students can select from a wide range of classes that vary during the year; Karate, Budding Bookworms, Budding Scientists, Soccer Clinic, Etiquette, Improv Drama, Lego League, International Chefs, and Eating & Cooking A to Z have all been offered. Study halls are also available, where students can either work independently or go to our experienced After School teachers for help.
“Meadowbrook After School gives kids a chance to relax, have fun and do something that interests them,” says Program Director Barbara Campbell. “Our approach is a combination of structure and free play, and we make sure that we communicate regularly not only with parents but with classroom teachers as well. About half of the Meadowbrook student body participates in After School – and we get to know each and every child.” Mrs. Campbell has been at The Meadowbrook School for five years.
