Recent Middle School Outings

Dear Caitlin and Julia, thanks so much for your hard work. I've posted it all here!

6th Grade Class Trips

The sixth grade at Meadowbrook has gone on many exciting field trips over the course of the year. The first trip we went on was to Becket on the 3rd day of school. We stayed over night at Becket and in the morning we went caving with Mr. Canfield and others. Everyone had a really great time in the caves and when we got home we were covered in mud. The second trip was a farm trip. We studied agriculture in science and then went to an organic and hydroponic tomato farm. We all had a great time sampling the food. The last trip that the sixth graders have been on is a canoeing trip. We went canoeing on the Charles River and saw many cool things in the process. During the trip we took samples of the water to see if the condition of the water was good. We are looking forward to seeing two of our fellow classmates, Jordan and Andrew, perform in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We hope we have many more exciting field trips and we are all looking forward to the sixth grade lock-in, where the whole class plans an overnight at school.

 7th Grade Class Trips

Recently, the 7th grade has gone on a very exciting trip. They experienced the art of theatre in a whole new way. Instead of being on stage, as in their grade play, they were watching the cast of A Christmas Carol, performed at the New Repertory Theatre. The whole grade attended and the teachers thought it was a well-produced play. After reading the book, they were able to make connections easily. The 7th grade got a special treat when, after the play, they were able to have a Question and Answer session with the cast! Overall, it seemed to be a very interesting trip to go on. Just a week ago, the 7th grade departed on a very exciting, historical journey. They traveled to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. They saw many historical sites such as battlefields and many outstanding monuments like the Lincoln Memorial. Jake Lupica, 7th grader at Meadowbrook, quotes,” I had a really fun time and enjoyed being with my class out of the school.” It seems like it was a very interesting, informative trip.

8th Grade Class Trips

The 8th grade recently went on a cultural exchange trip to the tropical beaches and forests of Costa Rica. They participated in a service project carrying wood, rode the waves, and spent time with their host family, the Lopez’s. They saw many plantations filled with pineapples and bananas, ate sugarcane, took a tiring 9-mile hike, and swam in a Costa Rican river. Everyone at Meadowbrook was very jealous when they heard reports from them while they were there and highlights from them when they got back. It sounded very interesting from what we heard and the 7th and 6th grade can’t wait for their turn to go.
