Multicultural Affairs Teaching Intern

The Multicultural Affairs Office Teaching Internship Position - Early Elementary Educator

The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade school located in
Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, seeks a talented educator-leader for the Multicultural
Affairs Office Internship. At Meadowbrook, smart, passionate people join together in an
expansive learning environment with rigorous academics and innovative curricula to inspire,
challenge, and empower students to achieve at the highest level, connect deeply with a diverse
community, and courageously create change.

The intern program is a paid, one-year commitment with benefits that is designed to provide
professional growth for an innovative future teacher-leader. The program entails a teaching
partnership between the intern and mentor teacher in addition to an administrative position on
the Multicultural Affairs Office. The intern for the 2019-2020 school year will work alongside the
early elementary division that ranges from our Junior Kindergarten to our 2nd grade.

In the Multicultural Affairs Office, the intern will be engaged in communicating the work of the
office to the Meadowbrook school community and the community at-large. The intern will also
work to support the Multicultural Teaching Institute (happening the week after graduation), the
Meadowbrook Vacation program, and other community initiatives of the office. Passion and
commitment to equity and inclusion work, racial literacy and cultural competency are essential
to success in this role.

The intern’s classroom experience will provide lesson-planning experience as well as
supervised teaching and curriculum development opportunities in order to further develop their
teaching practice. The intern will begin the school year with observation and evolve into a larger
teaching load.

We strongly encourage applications from people of color, LGBTQ+ educators, or educators
from communities that are historically underrepresented in independent schools. We are
committed to an inclusive school experience for all those who come to work at Meadowbrook.
