Congratulations to our 15 Film & Broadcast Media students who returned home yesterday after five days of filmmaking and workshops at the STN Convention in Tampa! 🎥
Our 8th graders earned second place in the Crazy 8s Short Film contest and our 7th graders earned a first-ever honorable mention award in the Crazy 8s Morning Show, with just eight hours to produce each of these projects! 🏆 Meadowbrook also received honorable mentions for a PSA and short film.

Our first graders had a blast with their annual Marshmallow Day on Thursday! 🤍 Students used marshmallows as the base for a wide range of activities, including height estimations, crafts using frosting and other materials, and even marshmallow-themed word searches. We also had a special visit from Jean Alpert, who retired last year after 29 years at Meadowbrook!

Pura vida! 🌴 Our 8th graders returned home Friday night after 10 days of stunning adventures in Costa Rica, including ziplining and staying with families in Monteverde, whitewater rafting in Limón, hiking at the Arenal Volcano, swimming beneath the La Fortuna waterfall, and more. 🌊 Our students also spent time immersing themselves in the Bribri indigenous culture, collaborating on different activities and community projects with new friends from the Meleruk School.

Our second graders took to the red carpet this morning for their annual Rainforest Assembly! 🐯 Students took turns walking across the stage dressed as a rainforest animal they researched, while their classmates read scripts with fun facts about each animal. 🦋

Day 10 in Costa Rica -- Today the Class of 2026 had an early morning wake-up call for a thrilling adventure, white water rafting down the Reventazon River in Limon! It was a special way to end the trip, as our 8th graders will return home on Friday.
Day 9 in Costa Rica -- Meadowbrook 8th Graders embarked on the traditional solo activity - three hours on a secluded beach with nothing but a journal and time to reflect on the trip, think about their time at Meadowbrook, and ponder the future.
Survey says! ✅ Last Friday, our fifth graders took center stage as they organized their own version of Family Feud. During the assembly, students served as hosts, producers, and even participants competing against three teams of faculty. The fifth graders even polled their classmates around the school beforehand for the questions and answers that appeared on the board. 🗳️ Way to go, Class of 2029!

Day 8 in Costa Rica -- Today Meadowbrook 8th Graders hosted our Bribri friends from the Meleruk School for a fun day of activities, including hiking, kayaking, and swimming. After saying goodbye, the class spent the evening in Puerto Viejo shopping, dinner, and dancing!

Day 7 in Costa Rica -- The Class of 2026 woke up early this morning in a traditional Bribri Lodge and spent the day at the Meleruk School on the indigenous reservation Talamanca, playing with kids and with members of the community on painting, gardening, and art projects
Day 6 in Costa Rica -- It was a travel day today for our 8th Grade, who enjoyed time together on the busses singing and playing games. A brief excursion to the butterfly garden helped break up the journey from La Fortuna to the Caribbean region of Limon for a night in the Ditsowo u tree house.
Day 5 in Costa Rica -- Our 8th Graders experienced La Fortuna, beginning the day at Meadowbrook's friend Don Juan's farm, swimming beneath the La Fortuna waterfall, and exploring the town of La Fortuna in the evening. Pure Vida!
Day 4 in Costa Rica -- Our Class of 2026 awoke and said goodbye to their homestay families and then traveled from the clouds of Monteverde to the rainforest of La Fortuna for a hike at the Arenal Volcano.
The entire Class of 2026 swung through the clouds on the Tarzan Swing in the Monteverde cloud forest in Costa Rica!
Our junior kindergarten students did a fantastic job designing and building custom treehouses over the last few weeks! 🏡 The students presented their hard work and each treehouse’s special features to family, friends, and faculty during their JK Treehouse Show on Thursday.

As part of our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration on Friday, our students spent the morning exploring how growth and connection often come from moments that challenge us.
This year, students participated in a range of activities centered around the theme of “Growing Together: Building Community through Challenge,” with a special focus on growth, empathy, and shared responsibility for one another.
Throughout the week, our Lower School students learned about the significance of Freedom Songs during the Civil Rights Movement, and learned songs which they sang together Friday. Students in grades JK-2 made meaningful contributions to our Peace Tree, grades 3-5 explored the idea of similarities (mirrors) and differences (windows) through a march activity, and our middle schoolers built positive connections through a fun social dance workshop led by @rodneyericlopez.

Last week at Meadowbrook, we had the pleasure of welcoming back members of the Class of 2019 and 2020 for our "After the Middle School: Alumni Perspectives" event. It was inspiring to hear how their experiences here have shaped their success in high school, college, and beyond.
This gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the long-term impact of a Meadowbrook education and to ask our alumni about their journeys ahead. We are so proud of their achievements and grateful for the chance to support our students even after they leave campus.

⚖️ 7th Grade Debates! ⚖️ This week, our students teamed up to defend arguments for or against a resolution as part of an annual Middle School English unit where they showcase their skills as researchers, collaborators, and public speakers. 🗣️
This year’s resolution topics included the minimum age requirement for social media apps, school start times and grading systems, salary caps for professional athletes, and replacing zoos with wildlife sanctuaries.

Our Model UN students have been putting on strong showings at highly-competitive conferences around Massachusetts this fall! 🏛️ Seven of our middle schoolers have gone home with awards from events at @northeastern and @suffolk_u, earning honors for the “Best Negotiator,” “Best Public Speaker,” “Best Delegate,” and the “Best Position Paper” out of hundreds of other students. 🏆

The excitement was off the charts on Friday as our varsity soccer teams competed in primetime matchups at Harvard University! It was amazing to see the energy from the community as we celebrated one of our favorite traditions and cheered on our Meadowbrook student athletes. Capping it all off? 4-0 victories for both of our teams! Thank you to Belmont Day School for joining us for such a spectacular night at Jordan Field.
We can’t get over how fantastic the first week of school was! 💙 Our students had an amazing first few days on campus, wrapping up the week by coming together for a group photo alongside Meadowbrook faculty this morning to mark the start of the new year!
