Our middle schoolers traveled off campus last week for their annual field trips to connect with their classmates and volunteer with local nonprofits! Over the first weekend of May, a group of our 8th graders and faculty made a movie in just 48 hours as part of the Boston 48 Hour Film Project! 🎥🍿 Moose Films produced the movie “Don’t Spill The Beans,” marking 20 years of participation in the annual film festival. It premiered on the big screen at the Somerville Theatre this week, and featured a variety of film requirements including: Genre (Food), Character (Reneé Pretti,a volunteer), Prop (a map), and Line of Dialogue (“What does the sign say?”). Jack Reed from Rhode Island and Sen. Our students in junior kindergarten, senior kindergarten, and grades 1 and 2 enjoyed a special visit from children’s book author Carrie Finison yesterday! 🎉 Carrie dove into the details of some of her stories like Dozens of Doughnuts and Pigs Dig a Road, and explored common threads in her writing like rhymes, repetition, and words that are fun to repeat out loud. 🍩🐷 #Meadowbrook #VisitingAuthor #ChildrensBook

Our third graders did a phenomenal job showing off their Open Studio projects this morning! 🌟 Starting in February, these students used a topic they were interested in to analyze their learning styles and evaluate what was easy and hard when learning something new. Arts Week is underway! 🎨 Our students started this week celebrating the arts by spending time with Frank C. Hamm, an award-winning rustic artist who has been building custom furnishings and garden structures since 1987. As our Visiting Artist, Frank is building a custom wooden stage that will live on campus and be used for a variety of student projects. Congratulations to our 15 Film & Broadcast Media students who returned home yesterday after five days of filmmaking and workshops at the STN Convention in Tampa! 🎥 Our 8th graders earned second place in the Crazy 8s Short Film contest and our 7th graders earned a first-ever honorable mention award in the Crazy 8s Morning Show, with just eight hours to produce each of these projects! 🏆 Meadowbrook also received honorable mentions for a PSA and short film. #Meadowbrook #stnnow #stntampa2026 @stnnow

Our first graders had a blast with their annual Marshmallow Day on Thursday! 🤍 Students used marshmallows as the base for a wide range of activities, including height estimations, crafts using frosting and other materials, and even marshmallow-themed word searches. Pura vida! 🌴 Our 8th graders returned home Friday night after 10 days of stunning adventures in Costa Rica, including ziplining and staying with families in Monteverde, whitewater rafting in Limón, hiking at the Arenal Volcano, swimming beneath the La Fortuna waterfall, and more. 🌊 Our students also spent time immersing themselves in the Bribri indigenous culture, collaborating on different activities and community projects with new friends from the Meleruk School. #Meadowbrook #8thGrade #CostaRica

During the assembly, students served as hosts, producers, and even participants competing against three teams of faculty. As part of our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration on Friday, our students spent the morning exploring how growth and connection often come from moments that challenge us. This year, students participated in a range of activities centered around the theme of “Growing Together: Building Community through Challenge,” with a special focus on growth, empathy, and shared responsibility for one another. Throughout the week, our Lower School students learned about the significance of Freedom Songs during the Civil Rights Movement, and learned songs which they sang together Friday. Students in grades JK-2 made meaningful contributions to our Peace Tree, grades 3-5 explored the idea of similarities (mirrors) and differences (windows) through a march activity, and our middle schoolers built positive connections through a fun social dance workshop led by @rodneyericlopez. #Meadowbrook #MeadowbrookSchool #MLKDay
