At Meadowbrook, everyone who walks through our doors is a valued member of our community and has a role in educating our students. Whether you're a parent, guardian, alumni, grandparent, faculty, or friend of the school, we all share the common goal of providing our students with an exemplary JK-8 experience.

Volunteers are critical in Meadowbrook's efforts to know, love, and challenge every child. We understand that life is busy and time is limited. Whether you are available to volunteer for one event or on an ongoing basis, we welcome and appreciate your time and talents.

Meadowbrook School Parents Association

The Parents' Association is an active part of the school community dedicated to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone feels connected. All Meadowbrook parents and guardians are a vital resource to the school, and are automatically members of the Parents' Association.

The Parents’ Association's mission is to keep current parents informed, provide parents with opportunities to come together and give back to the School, and to offer relevant and meaningful programs for the Meadowbrook community. The Parents’ Association seeks a wide cross-section of volunteers to help represent the many voices and needs of our diverse community.

Volunteering

Here is a sampling of some of the volunteer opportunities available to parents and guardians at Meadowbrook.

Book Fair

The Book Fair Committee is dedicated to organizing and executing the annual Spring Book Fair at Meadowbrook. Committee members collaborate to set up the event, recruit volunteers, staff the Fair, and assist students and families with book selections. Their efforts help create an engaging and welcoming environment that promotes a love of reading within the school community. 

Brookbinder (Grades JK-5)

Brookbinder is Meadowbrook’s annual Lower School literary publication consisting of creative writing and selections of art from students in grades JK-5. Starting in April, volunteers are needed to organize creative writing pieces for each grade (typically one parent volunteer per grade). Writing pieces are provided by the teachers.

Event Volunteer Committee

The Event Volunteer Committee works with the Advancement Office to help staff and recruit volunteers for major community events, such as our Day of Service, Fall Fest, Friday Night Scoops, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and Under The Lights. A primary focus of the Event Volunteer Committee co-chairs will be volunteer management before, during, and after each event.

Faculty Friends Committee

The Faculty Friends Committee helps celebrate and thank our incredible faculty for their work with students through the planning and execution of an annual Faculty Appreciation luncheon in December, as well as a Faculty Appreciation Week in May.

Green Team

The Green Team is a group of parents committed to educating the Meadowbrook community about sustainability and inspiring our children and families to become climate resilient through collaboration and informed actions. Many of their ideas are developed in concert with the school's inspiring science faculty.

Host Family Liaisons

The Host Family Program matches each new family with a current Meadowbrook "host family” to help welcome them into our community. In the spring, the Admissions staff makes a list of potential host/new family pairings, and then the liaisons reach out to the hosts, pass along contact info for the new families, and troubleshoot any issues along the way.

Meadowbrook Spirit Store

The Meadowbrook Spirit Store is the school’s official store for Meadowbrook-branded items! Members will help coordinate pop-up shops during the school year, contribute ideas for new merchandise, and promote school pride through a variety of fun and creative products. This committee provides a great opportunity for parents to connect, support school spirit, and be part of a laid-back, collaborative team.

Room Volunteers

Get to know the other parents and guardians in your child’s class by being a Room Volunteer. This is a great way to stay connected with your child and their teacher during the school year. Coordinate classroom parties, plan class and/or parent and guardian socials, and recruit to contribute food on your class’ Faculty Grazing Day. Help fellow parents stay up-to-date with classroom activities and larger school-wide events. This is a year-long commitment, with two to three volunteers per class.

Understanding Differences Program (Grades 2-5)

Understanding Differences is an important part of the Lower School curriculum, helping children in grades 2-5 better understand what it is like to have a disability. The program includes speakers, field trips, and activities in the classroom that are designed to give children an idea of what it is like to be physically or mentally impaired. We invite you to join the committee and/or become a grade-level coordinator, and help shape the future of this long-standing Meadowbrook program. Parents of children in all grades are welcome and encouraged to become involved.

Visiting Author

The Visiting Author Committee is dedicated to supporting Meadowbrook's vibrant children’s authors and illustrators program. Committee members will assist in identifying, inviting, and recruiting talented authors and illustrators to visit our campus, helping to bring fresh perspectives and inspiring stories to our students.

Each edition is packed with important updates, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and highlights from our school community, fostering a stronger partnership between parents and the school.
